Stainless steel fittings
The fittings for high pressure fans must be suitable for high air speeds. Since the temperature inside vacuum pumps, side channel blowers and compressors can often increase significantly, stainless steel is a safe choice. Sjerp & Jongeneel has a standard range of BSP threaded stainless steel fittings in stock which can be easily fitted with an anaerobic adhesive. If the temperature permits that PVC pipework is chosen, we recommend installing a larger diameter. Due to the wall thickness of the connection nipple, it is best to use a stainless steel nipple in order to minimise the pressure losses at the blower. High air speeds produce relatively high-pressure losses when pipework diameters change or bends are introduced. It is therefore recommended that the stainless steel fittings used with your system should have as few diameter changes as possible and wide bends.
